I received a phone call from Dave Cleaver telling me that he and Kath were sailing their Narrow Boat up through the canals of Yorkshire so I arranged to meet them in Skipton where this photo was taken.
From there we went onto the Craven Heifer on the Grassington Road where we had some of their famous Heifer Pie.
It was a wonderful afternoon spent catching up on all the DBS gossip. When I left them they were planning their route to Wigan Pier

Meet CrackerJack who is owned by Rachel and John Philips who have beach donkeys in Scarborough. His father is a Welsh Section A and his mom a beach donkey. These pictures were taken on the 16th of June when he was just four days old. “What a little Cracker”
In my role as a Trustee of the Donkey Sanctuary I have recently visited one of their overseas projects in Kenya.
The work that a mobile clinic can achieve is immense, in two days in Samburo National Park and the town of Isiolo the team of four treated over fifteen hundred donkeys.
For me the most amazing part of the trip was the work that we did in the National Park where the Pastoral (Nomad) tribesmen travelled great distances in order to have their donkeys treated.
Above right are a number of links which will take you to pictures of the places that I visited .The ones for Samburo National Park refer to work in the Bush, the ones for Isiolo are for work we did in the town, the ones for Lamu are for the work we did on the island, and the one for the Outer Island covers the rest of the islands adjacent to Lamu.
The sections on Nose Rings, Wounds and Identification are to be avoided if you are of a squeamish disposition
The Donkey Sanctuary in conjunction with the KSPCA runs a harness workshop where pack saddles and harness are designed from local materials to help eradicate the wounds caused by poor harness
