On the first day of summer I received that sad news that Ann French’s stallion Johnny Paycheck had been put to sleep. Unfortunately over the past twelve months he has had recurring problems with sarcoids which have had to be surgically removed. This spring they returned in an even more virulent form and Ann took the brave decision that it was kinder to have him put to sleep than for him to have to endure extremely unpleasant medical treatment for the unforeseeable future.
Johnny was a great ambassador for the miniature donkeys and took on and beat standard donkeys in the show ring. His crowning glory was when he was made Champion at the Royal Highland he will be sadly missed.
